Derek White, a Moebius uncle, joined Many Faces of Moebius Syndrome in 2018 as a consultant and advisor. In 2019 he was appointed to the role of Executive Director, working closely with the board of directors and overseeing day to day operations. Since starting at MFOMS in 2018, he has worked diligently to streamline the organizations operations and websites and further the goals and mission of MFOMS. Derek has participated in various events, including Kara Smiles Fund Run/Walk, and Riders for Moebius.
Derek works as a claims analyst for a law firm that represents injured workers in Washington State, and is the owner of B2B Solutions, a business that specializes in helping small business owners and non-profits.
After over 20 years of growing up in the city of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Derek relocated to Rochester, Washington in 2003. In 2013, he organized an effort to improve the safety of an intersection of US Highway 12 after a teenager was tragically killed. WSDOT reduced the speed limit and made other improvements in the area. Since those improvements were made, no one has has been seriously injured or killed at the same intersection. In his personal life, Derek enjoys spending his off time with his expanded family, cooking, exploring new restaurants, and traveling.
